Hi! I am Maria

Maria toddler & baby sleep consultant near me

As a baby sleep consultant and kid sleep specialist, I’m so excited to introduce myself and my journey with you.

My background is in Psychology and Music Therapy, and I have worked closely with many children and families over the years.  I’ve always had a deep interest in child development, but my true passion for helping little ones (and their exhausted parents!) with sleep began when I welcomed my son into the world  (and reason why I became a Certified Holistic Sleep Coach).

Like many new parents, I had this notion that babies would naturally drift off to sleep when they were tired.  How I wish that were the case! My son faced colic and would cry for what felt like an eternity.  We tried everything to soothe him, and while he eventually became a happier baby as he grew, sleep remained elusive.

As a mom, I understand the struggles and heartache of sleepless nights. I vividly remember the overwhelming challenge of trying to put him down for naps, stressing out about how many hours of sleep he would (should?) get in a day and wake windows. I also remember those hourly wakings at night. The advice to let him cry it out felt impossible to me. It felt truly wrong. I had (and have!) a very strong instinct to attend to him and soothe him when he needs me. And I know I’m not alone in feeling this way.

I am also from Spain and I was very familiar with other methodologies practiced in Europe.  I knew that I didn't need to leave my baby to cry-it-out or limit my response to get better sleep.  And I knew that there were other alternatives that were more child-led.  I just didn't know what I had to do to improve sleep and needed help to better understand my child's needs and how sleep works.  I was also already very familiar with normal baby sleep, and somewhere inside me, I knew that he was doing what he was supposed to do.  However, on the other hand, I kept feeling so much pressure from society that there was something wrong with him, or that we were doing something wrong.  So I started researching day and night about sleep biology, normal sleep expectations and how to support him.  I became extremely passionate about it and that's how I decided to become a holistic sleep coach.

I started implementing a lot of the knowledge I was learning with my son and saw a HUGE improvement in his sleep.  We were finally able to get more rest, our mental health improved greatly and I finally got some very deserved and needed time with my partner before going to bed.

I saw such a great improvement that I decided to create my own company and bring this approach to the US.  I am passionate to help families that feel like I did find better rest in a way that feels right to them and respects their parenting style.

As a little bit of context of our own sleep practices- I nursed my baby to sleep for a very long time because it felt right for us ,and I truly enjoyed it.  We also have a family bed and bedshare because it brings us closeness and works for our family.  I share this because there is so much pressure and guilt on parents- and specially mothers- making them feel that they are doing something wrong, when it's actually the most biological and natural way to support your baby in their sleep.  I want to normalize SAFE bedsharing and nursing/bottle feeding to sleep when it feels right.  I want to provide reassurance to parents that are in the same situation and that follow their instincts and let them know that they are NOT doing it wrong and that they will NOT building bad habits.

That being said, I don't believe every family needs to nurse or bottle to sleep or bedshare.   I have supported many families in finding more independent sleep- whether that's transitioning their babies to a toddler or floor bed, moving away from bedsharing, or gently night-weaning  when the current situation no longer feels unsustainable.  If what you’re doing doesn’t feel right anymore, that’s usually the sign it’s time to find support and tools to make a change—one that still respects your child’s age, needs, and development.

At the heart of my approach is the belief that families should feel free to do what works best for them without judgment. My role is to help your family take the next steps in a responsive and respectful way, always age-appropriate for your child and aligned with your family’s values.

I take a holistic, attachment-based, and evidence-informed approach to sleep
coaching. I believe in fostering connection and trust as the foundation for healthy sleep, and I will never recommend methods like Cry It Out (CIO) or controlled crying.
